Rooting for your team starts a long way back. First you have to find money. How do you finance the ticket? What about the trip? In the meanwhile, you prepare costumes, chants and choreography. If you can’t find a solution, you look for a place to watch the game… even sitting on the ground if necessary. And it doesn’t matter if the guy seated next to you supports the other team.

Although these problems exist more or less everywhere, in the African continent everything takes on another dimension, especially for the “super fans”, who follow their national teams everywhere and at every edition of the African Cup of Nations, and who are now stars in their own countries.

During the project I followed them everywhere: at home, on buses, in hotels, looking for a ticket, during prayer before the game, in the stadium and when they have to return home…
In this #AFCON 2023 in #IvoryCoast, this reportage tried to get into the “dimension” of the continent’s super-fans.
